Today at my workplace there was a presentation of a different kind..presentation from one of its kind six sigma organisation. An organisation which has people not educated more then 8th standard, can't speak english and all they do is deliever food to its customers. The organisation is Mumbai Dabbawalas. The presentation was done by the president and general sect. of the organisation in mumbaya hindi. It was simple, down to earth, no jing bang presentation. Very unlike our hi funda big mouth but no show corporate presentations. Whats amazing about this organisation is its ability to deliever on time and delight the customer with a defect. Come what may you will get your food on time is what they promise. Be it rain, bomb blast, cyclone nothing stops them. They practice what they preach. Customer centricity is their core objective. They say that if we make one error it effects four people in line. So one can do anything but he should not make any error in delievery to the customer. The dabbawalas have represented india in many international forums, case studies have been written on them by various management schools, also they have been fecilitated by people like Prince Charles. The president told some funny incidents on how they prayed to god that prince charles' second wedding turns out to be good, since it was on the day of awamasa-day on which hindus dont perform and shubh karya because it is not conisdered auspicious. And how their prayers got answered as Prince Charles' wedding got postponed cause Pope died on the same day. :))
It was a great session as we got to know about how to keeps things simple to be effective. Which is what is reqd in big organisationliek the one i work in. :))
